I was first introduced to CrossFit in 2014 while on college work placement. I immediately loved it and found it to be a great replacement for the team sports I had played all of my life up until that point. After 10 years of coaching and training CrossFit, I love it just as much as ever.

Originally from Wexford, I have now lived in Waterford for nearly 20 years. Outside of the gym I also enjoy taking part in the occasional Triathlon. I have also regularly competed in CrossFit competitions over the last 10 years, including taking part in the Open every year.

My favourite part of coaching is seeing people exceed their own expectation and achieve things that they never thought possible. I have seen many lives transformed for the better through CrossFit and hope to see many more in the coming years at CrossFit Waterford.

I first started CrossFit back in 2016 as part of work placement for my degree.

Prior to this, my main sport was basketball and I found in CrossFit what I had lost when I stopped playing basketball, a community of like minded people who supported one another.

I have just about 9 years experience coaching CrossFit and I have a Level 8 Degree in Exercise and Health Studies. I am a CrossFit Level 2 coach, a Weightlifting Level 1 coach and I am currently pursuing a Precision Nutrition Level 1 qualification.

I’ve always wanted to help people and when I left school, I picked my degree as a backdoor entry to primary school teaching. However, when I became a CrossFit coach, I felt as though I had found my calling and I’ve been working as one ever since.

Sport changed my life for the better, and it’s been incredible to be part of our member’s journeys to becoming a better version of themselves.

I love coming to a place where people are not looking for shortcuts, they want to do things the right way. Being able to show up each day, even when you don’t feel like it is an incredible feat of mental toughness. For me, being surrounded by so many people like this everyday makes my job so worthwhile.

I have been coaching at CFW since 2017 following work placement from college. Completing a Degree in Sport & Recreation over 4 years. What motivated me to get into the fitness industry, was my passion for helping people and being involved in sports from a young age.

Team sports have a big community present just like CrossFit and this enticed me to get involved. The best thing about this environment is the community, they love to see you do well and achieve your goals. This is a driving force for me to try delivery the best training session for members and push them to reach their goals. As a Dublin lad I have really set up roots in the Waterford community and couldn’t see myself living anywhere else. My favourite part about CrossFit is the gymnastics element from a basic push up to a muscle up and helping members achieve their first rep of any gymnastic movement. Neither age, gender, size or physical ability has to limit a person. You can do this !!!
